Doug Lewis

Born: January 18, 1964, Waitsfield, Vermont. Doug Lewis started skiing at the age of three and developed a deep desire to become a skiing Olympian. Despite his small size he was a specialist in the downhill winning two national championships, competing at the Olympics twice (1984 and 1988) and at the World Championships twice. His bronze medal at the 1985 World Championships was a first by an American male skier in the downhill event. He finished second at the 1986 World Cup race in Las Lenas, Argentina. After retiring in 1989 he devoted himself to spreading the gospel of skiing and ski racing, coaching at Green Valley Mountain Academy for five years, founding the Eliteam Program for young athletes and serving as a television commentator. |

A Message from Hilary Lindh |
In all my years as a member of the U.S. Ski Team, pursing Olympic medals and national and world championships I did not give much thought to what would happen to my records once my career was over. It is great to learn that everything I worked for won't be forgotten; nor will with work of my fellow inductees from across the country: Darcy Brown, Walter Foeger and Erich Sailer. This is the Hall of Fame for skiers and it should be as important to us as the Baseball Hall of Fame is to the players of that sport.
Our hall of fame need you if it is to properly carry out it's mission of collecting, preserving and presenting for public enjoyment the artifacts, literature and memorabilia of the rich history of skisport in America.
