George Macomber

George Macomber was a top intercollegiate skier and national competitor who provided over two decades of service to skiing regionally and nationally.
He was selected for the 1948 Olympic team but was injured and did not compete. Later he did win the Silver Belt at Suger Bowl and was the national combined champion in 1949. He was also named to the 1950 FIS team and again was injured. He continued to compete through the 1950's and eventually entered veterans competitions.
The owner of a successful large contracting business he was, from 1948 through to 1969, heavily involved on several committees of the USEASA, the NSA and the USSA.
