Ole Mangseth was among the top five in ski jumping during its early years. In 1917 he set a U.S. national distance record of 114 feet. He settled in Coleraine in 1909 and became active in promoting ski jumping and coaching junior ski jumpers. He was active in the National Ski Association for 48 years including three years, 1925-1928, as its treasurer.
