Douglas Pfeiffer

Doug Pfeiffer made an astounding number of contributions to skiing in several different areas of the sport. 

In his youth he was determined to become the best ski instructor in the world and travelled to Squaw Valley to work with Emile Allais.  He earned his instructing certificate from the Far West Ski Instructors Association and eventually became its President.  With Bill Lash, Paul Valar and Willy Schaeffler he founded the Professional Ski Instructors Assocation.

He edited several publications for ski sport including, SKI, Skiing Trade News and contributed hundreds of articles.  He focussed on learn to ski and the importance of having fun while skiing.  By the 1970's he was a respected evangelist for the sport and opened the doors to freestyle skiing.  He work included appearing several times as a commentator with the famous Suzy Chaffee.

He served for many years on the Board of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and the International Ski History Association.
