Ben Rinaldo was a dedicated skier who was able to use his writing skills and gifts of persuasion to promote skiing in southern California.

Rinaldo was a member of the National Ski Patrol from 1950 to 1965 during which he earned nine merit stars.  He also contributed articles about skiing to a newspaper chain in Southern California.  He joined the U.S. Ski Writers' Association and after being asked to re-write its constitution was elected its President in 1975.  In 1981 he was elected President of the Southern California Ski Association.

One of his great achievements was to presuade and involve major corporations to support and sponsor events that involved recreational skiers.  He also led a successful fundraiser for the national hall of fame in his state.
