Benno Rybizka was second in command at the Hannes Schneider Ski School in St. Anton when he accepted the invitation of Carroll Reed to head up Reed's newly established ski school in Jackson, New Hampshire in 1936.      

He arrived in the United States to find little snow and a ski school with instructors who did not know how to ski!  He over came those challenges and soon opened up the ski school at North Conway, laying the ground work for the arrival of Hannes Schneider in 1939.  He was the first proponent of the famous Arlberg Technique in the United States.

He went on to open ski schools in Mittersill NH; Lake Placid, NY;  Mont Tremblant, Canada; and Portillo, Chile   With Otto Lang, and Hannes Schneider he put on ski demonstrations at Madison Square Garden in New York. 

In 1953 he returned to Austria to care for his elderly step mother.
