Ottar Satre immigrated to the United States in 1929 and settled in Salisbury, CT to be with his brother Magnus, also an Honored Member of the Hall of Fame.  Between 1930 and 1935 he won 17 meets.  He claimed the USEASA Class A title for ski jumping twice and the Class B title once.  He also was a USEASA Class A winner in Nordic combined.  He won a national title in cross country in 1935.

He was a member of the 1936 US Olympic Team and afterwards competed at the Holmenkollen.  He is remembered for being picture perfect in style and grace as a ski jumper.  He retired in 1950 after winning 7 Veterans class events.  Like his brother he continued to work with young skiers in the Salisbury area contributing to the development of the sport there.
