Sepp Benedikter played an important role in the United States as an instructor, skiing actor, consultant and ski tour promoter and ski area developer. A competitive skier from the age of 6 he amassed a collection of 200 trophies and was a member of the Austrian national team at the 1931 F.I.S. World Championships. He held a Class A competitor's license in all of the skiing disciplines. After moving to the United States he headed up the instructional program at the newly opened Sun Valley Resort. He also appeared in several ski movies including, "She Met Him in Paris" and "Sun Valley Serenade". For a time he taught skiing in the Minneapolis area before being lured west again to race and instruct. He served a term as the President of the Far West Ski Instructors Association and organized several ski tours to Europe. From 1964 to 1969 he owned and successfully re-developed Rebel Ridge Ski Area in California.
