Dorice Taylor was introduced to skiing in her childhood and eventually applied her considerable literary skills to promoting the sport.

She was a graduate of Smith College and pursued a career as a teacher.  She and her husband took frequent vacations at Sun Valley from 1937 on and eventually, following World War Two she became its director of public relations.  In this position she kept Sun Valley connected with the rest of the skiing world.

In 1971 she was a recipient of the ski writers'  "Golden Quill" award and in her 80th year she published, Sun Valley, a book of her reminiscences.
