Lowell Thomas was a famous news broadcaster, adventurer and skiing enthusiast.  He was introduced to skiing  during World War One by Italian ski troopers  During the 1930's he was introduced to the Arlberg Technique at Peckett's Resort in New Hampshire.  Beginning in 1934 he began to broadcast his reports from new ski areas as they opened up.  In this way he became an important part of the growth of skiing from that time right through the 1960's.  In 1972 he was named an Honorary Member of the National Ski Patrol.
