Nelson Carmichael

Nelson Carmichael was a product of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club who joined the U.S. Ski Team right after graduating from high school. Although an excellent alpine skier he made his mark in freestyle skiing eventually specializing in moguls. During his career he won 6 U.S. titles and in 1988 and 1989 won two overall World Cup titles. Altogether he had 12 World Cup wins and was on the podium, in the top three, 31 times. He was on two Olympic teams winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1992. As a professional he won three overall titles in the 1990’s.
