Jimmy Ellingson was a builder of champions. In 1933 he founded the Flying Eagles Ski Club in Eau Claire, Wisconsin which became one of the leading ski jumping clubs in the country under his leadership. Seven of the club's members became world champions or competed in the Olympic Games. An outstanding ski coach Ellingson was a leader, counsellor, teacher and disciplinarian and stressed sportsmanship, honesty and politeness to his young charges. He was a true builder of American skisport.
